Fine libraries exist with public funds, but it is through private gifts that they flourish. The Broward Public Library Foundation’s mission is to enhance the collections, programs and services of Broward County Library beyond the means of tax support. The Library Foundation and its 900 members support early literacy programs, such as the Summer Reading Program and the Children’s BookFest, as well as computer classes and free SAT/ACT prep classes for high school students. Literary Feast, a weekend event featuring more than a dozen nationally known authors, is the Library Foundation’s chief fundraiser.
