Gain a behind-the-scenes look at how a magazine is created, and discover if a career in the publishing industry is a fit for you. Gulfstream Media Group interns work closely with editors to create content for six luxury lifestyle publications and their online counterparts, including flagship Gold Coast magazine and FortLauderdaleDaily.com.
For fall: Aug. 15
For spring: Oct. 30
For summer: Feb. 28
This opportunity is unpaid but can be used toward college credit. Commitment is targeted at 15-20 hours per week. Applicants should be available to spend at least two days per week in the Fort Lauderdale office.
Internship opportunities offered:
Print Interns focus on pitching, writing and editing content for Gulfstream Media Group’s six luxury lifestyle publications. Editing responsibilities include researching, fact-checking and editing for grammar and AP style. Writing responsibilities include reporting, meeting deadlines and producing original content for the front-of-book on topics such as beauty, fashion, food, health and events. Interns may also receive the opportunity to write a profile piece or story. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, experience with deadlines, knowledge of South Florida and background working at a college newspaper or magazine.
Web Interns focus on pitching and writing daily stories for Gulfstream Media Group’s luxury lifestyle websites, plus online design brand Florida Home & Garden. Responsibilities include reporting, brainstorming evergreen story ideas, putting together newsletters, and helping promote online stories both on social media and in print. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, an ability to multi-task, knowledge of South Florida and background working at previous publications or a college newspaper or magazine. Strong writing skills and news judgment required.
Social Media Interns help update social media accounts for all Gulfstream Media Group’s luxury lifestyle publications, plus online design brand Florida Home & Garden. Basic knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and Snapchat is required. Interns may also be asked to curate and/or create original content for the websites and social platforms. Experience managing or working with professional social media accounts is preferred.

This opportunity is unpaid but can be used toward college credit. Opportunity exists to transition into paid assistant in the future. Work will be in the Palm Beach/Jupiter area.
Jupiter Magazine and The Palm Beacher are looking for a sales/marketing intern. Gain valuable experience as you explore the behind-the-scenes creation of a glossy magazine.
Intern will have the chance to work directly with the publisher, assisting in multiple departments including advertising sales and marketing, event planning, editorial idea generation, magazine distribution and business administration.
Candidates need to have an interest in or education/experience in sales/marketing/publishing field. The ideal candidate can multi-task, has a knowledge of South Florida, is personable, presentable, and possesses good communication and client relations skills. Hours flexible and vary by week.
