The Fort Lauderdale Historical Society’s initial work was gathering important documents, letters, artifacts, photographs and recorded interviews from our town’s pioneers. We now offer many programs and activities: teaching children about pioneer life through hands-on reenactments, schoolhouse class programs, self-guided tours of exhibits in the New River Inn, docent guided walking tours of the King-Cromartie house and historic district; special events and lectures are also available. The Mission of the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, Inc. is to bring the history of greater Fort Lauderdale to life through education, research and preservation for the enrichment of present and future generations.
