Miss Florida USA Brie Gabrielle Hails From Palm Beach, And She Has BIG Plans For The Next Year
A new Miss Florida USA has been chosen to represent the Sunshine State at the Miss USA pageant in 2016.
Brie Gabrielle, of Palm Beach, was crowned Saturday at The Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale. The 25-year-old competed against 58 other contestants from across the state in three categories: personality, swimsuit and evening gown.
Gabrielle, who co-hosts the Chevy Florida Insider Fishing Report on Fox SunSports, moved from Miami to Los Angeles as a teenager to pursue an acting career. She went on to co-star in the Nickelodeon series “Drake and Josh,” and in 2010, she took a break from acting to obtain her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Pepperdine University. She moved to Palm Beach a few years ago.
But the journey to the crown wasn’t easy. Before winning the title of Miss Florida USA, Gabrielle placed first runner up in the Miss California USA 2012 pageant and second runner up in the 2013 pageant. She said she thinks her perseverance has inspired young women.
“For me to keep coming back year after year, they resonate with that,” she said.
As Miss Florida, Gabrielle said she would support environmental organizations and the Stop Bullying Now Foundation, which raises money for school districts to address and eliminate student bullying. The issue is close to Gabrielle, who said she experienced bullying in middle school.
In addition to serving as an ambassador for Florida and getting involved philanthropically, Gabrielle will spend the year preparing for the 2016 Miss USA pageant. She'll also continue to co-host the fishing talk show.
Grant Gravitt, executive producer of Miss Florida USA and owner of Tel-Air Interests, said he’s confident Gabrielle is ready for the competition.
“There’s greatness in her, and you can see it,” he said.
