A Twitter user seeking marijuana Tuesday afternoon got a response from an unexpected party.

After the user tweeted, “Somebody bring me weed. I’ll pay for it,” the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office offered to show up.

PBSO’s response quickly went viral, generating more than 33,000 retweets and 28,000 favorites as of Wednesday afternoon.

Amusing? Yes. But Eric Davis, a PBSO public information officer, said there's a lesson here.

“People should know that tweets are being read,” he said.
