Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival 2016: First Bite Recap And Other Photos From Day 1 Around Town
The Palm Beach Food and Wine Festival is officially underway, and we were at Buccan last night to kick things off with "First Bite."
After some mingling with fellow foodies during a cocktail reception, chefs Timon Balloo from Miami's Sugarcane, Mike Lata of FIG in Charleston, and host chef Clay Conley rolled out their four-course, family-style dinner—of course, paired with wines and bubbly to toast the start of the festival.
Highlights of "The First Bite" meal included Maine lobster ceviche, heavenly beef tartare with white truffle shavings, caramelized cauliflower agnolotti pasta, spiced beef strip loin with a salad of cherry tomatoes and yogurt, and—most importantly—a DJ who kept guests' energy high.
Thursday evening also had in store two other elegant dinners around town—Sustain, a celebration of sustainable seafood programs at PB Catch, and Rustic Root at Avocado Grill, the festival's first vegetable-based, five-course dinner—and we've rounded up social media photos from all of them in our Storify collection below.
PBFWF continued Friday with a Southern Revival luncheon at The Regional Kitchen and a Miami Takeover of Meat Market Palm Beach (we also included a few preview photos of the lunches).
The festival will run through Sunday, with a chef welcome party at The Breakers, an after-hours Asian street food bash at Imoto, the ever-popular Grand Tasting at The Gardens Mall, and so much more.
