Palm Beach Named One Of 12 Best Places To Retire In U.S. By Conde Nast Traveler
Turns out Palm Beach is more than a haven for snowbirds, socialites and shoppers; it's also great for retirees.
Conde Nast Traveler recently released its list of the 12 best places to retire in the United States, and Palm Beach made the cut, earning the No. 11 spot.
To come up with its ranking, Conde Nast Traveler surveyed readers ages 68 and older about their favorite places in the U.S. They considered places where locals are friendly, where the city is safe, where they live now and where they play.
Two other Florida cities made the top 12 list—Naples (4) and Sarasota (6)—while Asheville, North Carolina, took the top spot.
Palm Beach was praised for its beaches, dining, high-end shopping on Worth Avenue, and "senior-friendly social scene"—but the publication also didn't neglect to note that living here doesn't come cheap.
"You’ll need a hefty retirement fund to settle here (helpful: for every seaside mansion, there are plenty of one-bedroom condos), but if your wallet is deep enough, you can enjoy the upscale vibe, gorgeous weather, and full permission to wear seersucker and Pulitzer year-round."
Last fall, neighboring Martin County was named the best place to retire in a similar list by real estate website FindTheHome. That study ranked counties around the U.S. based on five categories: care, entertainment, convenience/transportation, community and housing.
