Bowery Coastal Packs Flavor Into Food and Music
At the top of CityPlace is an entity of itself. For those who haven’t stumbled upon it yet, it’s called Bowery Palm Beach, formerly Lafayette’s. The dining area where guests can enjoy happy hour cocktails and a tasty meal is called Bowery Coastal. But there’s also a music venue in the back called Bowery LIVE. Combined, Bowery Palm Beach is the spot for an easy-going and entertaining experience.
Bowery Comes to Town
With a wall of live tropical plants and breezy atmosphere, the restaurant has all the vibes of island life. That’s because owners Karena Kefalas and Joe Cirigliano spent several years opening and running two restaurant concepts—Beach Bar and Bowery—on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands, before taking on Palm Beach.
The name Bowery is inspired by a street in the owners’ former residence in Manhattan, New York, where people from all walks of life gathered. “We feel [in Palm Beach] it’s the same vibe. People coming together whether you’re a musician, whether you’re just here for the weekend or here for the long haul, everybody can get together in one space,” Kefalas says.
Dine inside with ample windows and balcony seating with stunning views, or sit on the massive wraparound patio complete with a full bar and games like cornhole. Chef Anthony “Theo” Theocaropoulus will whip up tasty bites like chicken mojo tacos, Mexican corn and lam bao (pickled daikon, feta cream and fresh dill). For the adventurous eater, try the alligator bao, which won’t disappoint. There’s a great mix of fresh seafood (the lobster roll is a must), small plates and a delicious Bowery burger topped with butter pickles, crispy shallots and smoked Gruyere cheese. There’s no forgetting about chef Theo’s octopus, which has become a restaurant staple.
Happy hour begins at 3 p.m. and includes oysters shucked fresh and served for $1 apiece, not to mention “you call it drinks” for $6.
The surprise in the expansive space at Bowery Palm Beach is its music venue tucked behind the restaurant. It comfortably fits 700 and features two bars, plus live entertainment every weekend. Enjoy local and national acts in a setting that’s close to home.
“We spent a lot of time and energy and effort turning it into the space that it is now,” Cirigliano says of the “world-class music venue.” Bowery Palm Beach is a live music venue first and foremost, but it’s also versatile enough to host wedding receptions, corporate events and the likes.
“Live music is what brings everybody together,” Kefalas says. “That one thing that makes everything so special and so great.”
